Term 1
What a term! We sure jammed it full of fun, and even when the weather didn’t help us out we had an awesome time.
There was Tournament night to kick off the term, the bike ride along the river, fishing (not ‘catching’) at Point Howard, Challenges night down at Epuni Hall, the trip up to H20 Extreme and to cap it all off, the Bon Fire – which turned out to be one of the best nights in a long time.
We also had a Junior Tramp on which 3 boys participated and graduated with flying colours. An experience we will remember for a while.
Term 2
Ahead of us lies Term 2. Its back into badges and hopefully there will be something for everyone. We have Target Badge and Safety for the Juniors, FM Radio and Electronics for the Middles, and Car Maintenance for the Seniors. It will be a productive and worthwhile term.
We also have 3 guests coming in to run Christian Education. Al Ronberg, the North Island Development Manager for BBNZ is coming down for a week. We’re also hoping to get familiar faces Hamish Campbell and Stewart Grey in to help out for the other two.
Subs
Term 2 newsletter will always have a reminder for subs. This year is no different. Subs are $70.00 for the whole year. This trails greatly in comparison to other extra-curricular activities such as music lesson, or sports teams. Please help us out by having your subs in to us by 4 May, 2009.
Snow Weekend
Later on in the year, we are wanting to take another trip for the boys up to the snow. There are rumours going around that the boys want a Snow WEEK, rather than a Snow Weekend. To do this, there will need to be some SERIOUS fund-raising before that eventuates. Any boy who wants to be apart of this trip needs to commit to this event in the first couple of weeks this term.

So another term bites the dust. With so many exciting events it is difficult to sum up succinctly. We ran our second successful term of options which worked really well, with boys participating in Cooking, Web Design and Clock making. We also had our first Squad Night of the year.
In term 3 there have been a select number of boys who have been busy for the good part of 2 months fund-raising for a weekend away in the snow. This was an extremely cool event (excuse the pun!) and it was an excellent weekend away in the snow. Some in the snow more than others! Photos are now on the website.
Term 4 is now here. There is a lot going on.
Church Parade October 19
This event is essentially compulsory for all boys. If you are unable to make it for any reason, you must speak with me first. Our small numbers means that we need everybody on board in order to make the largest impact.
Boys will be involved with Drumming from Term 2, as well as some short Dramas prepared early in the term.
This will be our first Church Parade in the new church building, which is on High Street across the road from St. Andrews Ave.
If you are involved with any activity (ie. Drama or Drumming etc…) please turn up no later than 9am. If you are not involved, you will be required to be in the downstairs foyer from 9:40 onwards. And yes, you are required to wear uniform.
Labour Weekend Camp October 25, 26, 27
This year we are getting the boys to organise this camp! What a great idea! It will be held on Labour Weekend, at Camp Wainui. The rest is up to the boys! Notices and permission forms to follow!
New Building November 3
The time has finally arrived. We must be moved out of the old building on Manuka Ave by November 7. Unfortunately, we can’t move into the new building until November 1. This leaves us one Monday night to do this. As a “Right of Passage” ceremony of sorts, we will be holding a bench run, going from the old building to the new building on November 3.
End of Year Prizegiving Date & Location to be Confirmed
This is coming up in December. Notices to follow.
And with that, I’m out of room on the page! On behalf of the leaders at 10th
