Term 3, 2008

{ July 16th, 2008 }

The leadership team feel that the second term was a huge success regarding the use of badge options for the boys. This has led us to providing the poys with a choice of what badges they wish to do for this upcoming term. The badges we ran in the second term were Photography, Drumming and Target Badge, all of which were well participated and good outcomes achieved from.

As many of you may know or have found out, the church was struck by lightening a couple of weeks before the end of term and this has led many different challenges regarding the space and use of the church by different ministries. We thank you for your patience and adaptability in this uncertain time.

During this time, (although totally unrelated) the Church voted on a move to a new premises and that has gone through with a 91% in favour of the move. The new building is the old Hoyts building in Lower Hutt. This will affect Boy’s Brigade greatly as we have to adapt and change how we run things, especially in regard to security and arriving and departing from the building. Currently we are a part of the ministries meeting team who are devising plans for the architect to adhere to in designing the new layout of the building. It is an exciting time and we ask that you continue to pray for God to bless those involved with the church and the bulding development. This will most certainly affect us and possible change how we do things, but we are looking forward to the new challenges and the new possibilities that this move presents.
It is uncertain yet when the move to the new building is going to happen. With the unstable nature of the current building, people are keen to more sooner rather than later, but as we still need a large hall to operate in, we have asked to stay at the current location until a large robust space is established at the new location.

This term we are looking to hold our first Ski Weekend for a while. Fund-rasiting for this event is currently in the process of being organised and time and dates will be confirmed in the next few weeks as we sort out accomodation arrangements. If you would like to know more, Stu Ingham is the person to talk to.

Church parade is currently being planned and we hope that you are able to attend this event. It is a good chance to show the church what happens at Boy’s Brigade and can show them that other things the church supports has an impact on people outside of a Sunday morning. The date for this event is in October (date to be confirmed) and we would expect that every boy would attend Church parade as part of being a member of Boy’s Brigade. It is one Sunday morning out of the whole year, and we don’t think that it is too much to ask, to help showcase a young and vibrant ministry in the church.

And with that, I bring to a close Term 2, 2008 and wlcome everyone into the second half of the year. If it’s anything like the first half, we’re in for an awesome time!
