Term 2, 2007
{ May 14th, 2007 }
It was not so long ago I remember sitting down to write Term 1’s newsletter!
Term 1 was packed full of outdoor events, making the most use of the daylight we have on offer this year. With the proposed changes in daylight saving hours it looks like we will prosper with outdoor activity next year!
As we look ahead to Term 2 we can see badges looming on the horizon. Squads have been put together and our first week back will be Squad based activities which will hopefully unify and build the teamwork within each Squad. By the end of the term, we should all be ready for a good Squad Night.
We have a range of badge work for everyone this term. We have managed to acquire the skills and expertise of John Groves, an ex-10th Wellington leader who has offered to help out with a film class. Hopefully with his guidance we might actually get something finished!
We also have plans to design and construct our own hoverboard - for what use yet is unknown, but it will be fun all the same! If anyone has any old but working vacuum cleaners, or can get some for us with minimal cost, please get in contact with us!!!
There is also going to be a cooking class now that the kitchen has a working oven! I’m sure the items of choice will be delicious and will treat our taste buds at the end of each night!
For the keen group of second years we have an expedition badge which will probably flow into term 3 run by our keen tramper Rob Stewart.
ANZAC Day is on the first Wednesday back, 25th April. We have been asked to place a wreath, which we happily accepted. It was an awesome event last year despite the rain, so please make an effort to turn up and show your support as we remember them. 9:30am at the front of Hutt Central Library, by the Cenotaph.
So, without further ado, I bring you Term 2, 2007!
